JM ETC Network Engineer
We are looking for an network engineer with experience designing and implementing network solutions with DoD Cyber-Security compliance built in. The individual will provide a well-rounded Network Engineering approach to facilitate troubleshooting and provide engineering solutions to distributed test and experimentation laboratories on the Secret Defense Research and Engineering Network (SDREN) relevant to the Joint Mission Environment Test Capability (JMETC). Collaborates with JMETC Connectivity Team, JMETC Program Office, JMETC SYSCON, and site personnel to ensure network design and performance meets the needs of JMETC’s customers. Individual will provide technical expertise and analysis of network performance and, Cyber-Security compliance status. Functions as a liaison between the SYSCON, Connectivity Team, and the HPCMP (DREN operations and SDREN NOC). Must have strong network engineering skill with an emphasis on managing projects, and systems engineering. Travel in support of mission activity will be required. The selected candidate will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Day to day responsibilities include, but not limited to the following: - Provide tier 2 technical support to remote distributed test laboratories - Assist JMETC SYSCON in network performance analysis - Advise customers on hardware requirements, configuration, and cyber-security hardening of Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) needed to support disturbed test and experimentation - Support the Networking Track in the JMETC Technical Exchange - Support sites with performance issues through testing, both remotely and on-site - Investigate and recommend new technologies and tools to support JMETC Connectivity - Represent JMETC at conferences and technical exchanges - Provide technical guidance and edits for the JMETC SYSCON and Connectivity Team SOPs - Support and conducting biweekly Architectural and JMETC Connectivity Team telecons - Facilitate peering with other networks; review and support SDREN Interconnection Router Ports, Protocols, and Services attachments to Peering Agreements in support of test events - Manage new site acceptance testing for throughput, latency, dropped packets and jitter - Possess a thorough understanding of the Internet Protocol (IP), TCP over IP, UDP over IP, GRE tunnels, and multicast data flows - Experience configuring network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, and Intrusion Prevention Systems. - The individual will have a thorough understanding of TACLANE encryption devices and how to troubleshoot multicast data flow over TACLANE encrypted links - Experience designing and administrating Cisco Call Manager servers and VoIP phones - Produce and maintain network diagrams with MS Visio - Collect and publish network and services uptime metrics - Skill and experience implementing PKI in an active directory environment
