Maintenance Master Mechanic / Recovery Operator Reports to and receives assignments, instructions, and direction from the Field Maintenance Foreman or General Foreman. Recovery Operator will be required to recover any commercial and military assets. Recoveries will range from mechanical break downs, rollover accidents to hostile action. Recovery operators will be required to go off camp to recover assets along the MSR's and ASR's and from other locations designated by the tasking authority. Must be knowledgeable in military recovery operations and the operation of required recovery equipment (CommercialHeavy Duty Wreckers and / or Military HEMMT). Must be able to think and act quickly to given situations, making sound judgment keeping safety for themselves, other recovery personnel, military escorts and equipment the utmost thought at all time. Perform daily preventive maintenance practices, perform inspections of same equipment as required by company or government and insure all equipment is in safe working order. Position requires specialized training in the recovery industry and recovery equipment or equivalent; heavy equipment operator or heavy haul experience also considered. Must have Class A CDL with 3+ years military vehicle recovery/maintenance experience. Will require physical labor; crawling, climbing, lifting heavy items while wearing approximately 50lbs of Personal Protective Equipment. Rescuing tracked and wheeled vehicles this will include estimating the physical pull required to recover ditched, bogged or overturned vehicles, and use block and tackle layouts, heavy duty recovery equipment to include rotators to bring about an efficient safe recovery. Recovery operators should be skilled in the loading and unloading of disabled equipment onto trailers and semi-trailers. Must possess a knowledge of jump starting 12/24v electrical systems. Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Promotes teamwork and actively participates in quality improvement process. Promotes safety awareness and complies with all applicable safety procedures and regulations, performs other duties and activities as directed. Additional requirements: - Must possess valid Class A CDL driver’s license. - Must be fluent in English - Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 15 months of remaining validity AND with at least 6 blank visa/stamp pages remaining - Must have or be able to obtain a NAC-I Preferred qualifications and skill: - Candidates with prior Military and or LOGCAP experience in operating with military equipment’s and driving on camp base environment. It should be understood that employment may be located in potentially dangerous areas, including combat or war zones. This might involve the possibility of suffering harm by dangerous forces or friendly fire. These dangers are inherent to working conditions in a dangerous environment.
