Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Systems Engineer to provide Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) Engineering to support the DoD missile and guidance support equipment programs. GNC Engineers perform research, development, modeling, analyses, and simulation of GNC algorithms and capabilities. GNC Engineers focus on the integration of new systems/capabilities to enhance legacy weapons systems. Additionally, GNC Engineers will analyze current system performance, investigate operational issues, propose and develop solutions to mitigate concerns and document findings and recommendations. Common tools used to support these activities include MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++, Fortran, Python, Perl, and Shell. This work will be done in a team setting working collaboratively across functions and geographic locations, including Government customers and non-Governmental subcontractors.

  • Demonstrated experience in the requirements generation, design, integration, qualification, verification, and validation of GNC algorithms

  • Experience providing acquisition, and engineering documentation, requirements analysis, requirements generation, and system design

  • Support NSWC Crane and Navy SSP in the GNC design efforts for the life cycle refresh of mechanical support equipment for the Ohio/Columbia class SSBN and Dreadnaught class UK SSBN

  • Perform a range of design development, analysis or review tasks

  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements

  • Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications

  • Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from development to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications

  • Conduct site visits, support design reviews, attend system IPTs, analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations

  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics or math or related scientific field and at least 10 years of job-related experience. Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. Position may require travel. The position will require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
