Job Summary

AECOM is actively hiring a Senior Transportation Planning/NEPA Project Manager. The qualified candidate will have responsibilities include leading and working on various transportation and transit projects for AECOM North Carolina clients.

  • Provides overall management of IE-related planning issues.

  • Advises the Planning Director on all planning-related matters.

  • Advises various councils, boards, commissions, and elected officials in planning related issues

  • Evaluates operations and activities of assigned responsibilities.

  • Prepares reports on operations and activities, recommending improvements and modifications.

  • Develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.

  • Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed planning products.

  • Usually performs as a staff advisor and consultant as to a technical specialty, a type of facility, industry, equipment or program function.

  • Monitors and ensures compliance with local, state and federal laws.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS Undergraduate in engineering or planning with studies in civil engineering, transportation planning, environmental planning or related field

  • Minimum of 6 plus years' experience in planning and or planning-related field

  • Experience in project management and transportation engineering and planning task management, coordination and/or and oversight.

  • Preparation of and usage of project management tools such as scopes of service, budgets and schedules.

  • Proven professional verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.

  • Successful management of at least one Environmental Impact Statements and/or Multiple Environmental Assessments/Categorical Exclusions compliant with the National Environmental Policy Act NEPA

  • Excellent understanding of Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) NEPA compliance and procedures as administered by NC Department of Transportation

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Project, MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as MicroStation, and GIS

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in engineering or planning with studies in civil engineering, transportation planning, environmental planning or related field

  • Must have one or more of the following certifications: Professional Engineer (PE), American Institute of Certified Planners (ACP), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP)
