Mid-Level Transportation Planner - Military veterans preferred

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a talented Mid-Level Transportation Planner located in Raleigh, North Carolina. The responsibilities include leading and working on various transportation and transit projects throughout North Carolina.

• Manages complex planning studies, development applications and reviews.

• Reviews and processes complex comprehensive plan amendments, rezoning, annexations, site plans, and plats.

• Conducts research and prepares statistical reports on land use, physical, social and economic issues.

• Provides professional planning assistance to member communities on varied land use and transportation projects.

• Develops plans, studies, and analyses on a regional basis.

• Works in regional program areas relating to transportation planning

• Performs field inspections to gather data relevant to the development review process and/or to verify that development projects comply with approved plans

• Conducts meetings and presents reports and other findings to staff with advisory boards and elected officials.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or planning with studies in civil engineering, transportation planning, environmental planning or related field

• Minimum of 4 plus years’ experience in planning and or planning-related field

• Proficient in Excel, and MSWord

• Experience in project management of transportation engineering and planning task management, coordination and/or oversight.

• Preparation of and usage of project management tools such as scopes of service, budgets, and schedules.

• Experienced professional verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.

• Successful management of at least one Environmental Impact Statements and/or Multiple Environmental Assessments/Categorical Exclusions compliant with the National Environmental Policy Act NEPA.

• Knowledge of Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) NEPA compliance and procedures as
