Job Summary

The Buildings and Places Division of AECOM is actively seeking an energetic, self-motivated, highly collaborative Architectural Intern to join its Arlington, Virginia Architecture Studio. The candidate will participate on project teams through the planning, design, and execution of projects and will work with senior architects, technical coordinators, discipline leaders and project managers to develop creative solutions to a myriad of challenging project types. The candidate, in conjunction with the project team, will be responsible for implementation of the design and production of all phases of a project including schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in preparation of designs, quantity calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings

  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic architectural problems

  • Maintain conformance with building standards, established architectural practices, and applicable building codes

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently in pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or other related field required

  • Candidates should possess some working knowledge in design and production of all phases of an Architecture project delivery including schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration.

  • Candidates should display outstanding design and graphic skills

  • Candidate should also display strong communication, planning and collaboration skills, and be comfortable working both independently and in a team environment on a variety of projects and tasks

  • Candidates should be proficient in a wide variety of production and visualization software including but not limited to: AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch-Up, VRay or other visualization software, Adobe Suite, InDesign and Microsoft Office products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Rendering skills are strongly preferred
