If so, the Senior Program Quality Engineer role supporting Missile System’s Directed Energy team is the opportunity you have been seeking!

The Senior Program Quality Engineer will provide quality engineering support and expertise to select programs at Missile System Albuquerque to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate must provide education and knowledge on the use of quality tools in the administration of the Quality System and apply quality engineering skills to develop and deploy effective methods for verifying and accepting processes and products.

The Senior Program Quality Engineer will use analytical tools and methods to:

  • Improve product design
  • Minimize inspection
  • Solve fabrication problems
  • Complete such specialized quality functions as data preparation, analyses and reporting
  • Support process improvements
  • Complete special investigations and audits
  • Take preventative and corrective actions
  • Support design reviews and audits to ensure that quality is engineered into the product
  • Develop product acceptance techniques and plans.
This position will support Directed Energy programs within the Advanced Missile Systems (AMS) product line. The selected candidate will execute initiatives for all phases of the program and work within integrated teams to instill process rigor throughout the development environment.

The Senior Program Quality Engineer will provide support for transition to production activities, including Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, First Article Inspections, and Quality Control Plans, and may also be required to assist in leading the quality responsibility in Change Control Boards, Engineering Review Boards, and Risk Review Boards.

A successful Senior Program Quality Engineer will have the ability to provide the aforementioned in a very fast-paced engineering development environment. Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to drive results in dynamic, sometimes ambiguous, environments. The programs are often quick reaction with minimal established requirements initially. This requires the Senior Program Quality Engineer to have experience and discretion to give appropriate direction on a wide variety of product and program issues.

Required Skills:

  • Six (6) years of related Quality, Defense, Aerospace, and Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Experience in supporting manufacturing and/or design processes AND manufacturing process knowledge (assembly, inspection, test)
  • Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics and the identification/institution of perceptive verifications
  • Experience and knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, CMMI
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance

Desired Skills:
  • Eight (8) years of related Quality, Defense, Aerospace, and Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Six Sigma, Lean and / or American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications
  • Level 4 Mission Assurance Certification (Internal candidates)
  • General knowledge of aerospace / defense products and systems technologies
  • Experienced in Product/Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, Regression Analysis
  • Proficient in the Configuration Change Board, Engineering Review Board, and Risk Review Board processes and knowledgeable in the quality role in these boards
  • Strong leader that exhibits presence and influence
  • Passionate, high-energy, self-starting team player who achieves goals and strives for continuous improvement
  • Effective verbal and written communication and networking skills to work with upper management and customers
  • Competency in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams in failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions and implement robust process controls
  • Knowledge in Supplier Quality Engineering, including the applicable PRISM transactions
Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
