Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Project Architect for immediate employment for the Los Angeles, CA office. Our Los Angeles studio is a fun, fast-paced, and exciting environment with projects that vary widely in type, scope and complexity. We are looking for a person who wants to apply their passion and enthusiasm for project management and providing technical solutions in a collaborative and progressive work environment.

The responsibilities of this position include, but not limited to, those listed below:

  • Mentor a team that is comprised of Interior Designers and Architects

  • Ensure a well-coordinated project amongst the related project consultants

  • Diverse knowledge of architectural principles and practices, uses advanced techniques, and has responsibility over finished plans, specifications and material approval

  • Remain cognizant of the project budget and schedule

  • Manage client/firm relationships and all contractor arrangements

  • Adapts and modifies design features and operational methods to meet a variety of situation

  • Oversees and give direction to junior and intermediate staff.

  • Negotiate fee changes as necessary

  • Provides input and edits of construction specifications

  • Coordinates with public jurisdictions and consultants

  • Assist in marketing efforts to secure additional projects with existing clients and to expand current client based

  • May participate in preparation of proposals and may assist in presentation to the client and in contract negotiation

  • Supports, oversees and coordinates architecture activities for an operating unit.

  • Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative.

  • Initiates and maintains contact with senior-level management within the company and is skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues. At this level, the individual will have demonstrated understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, working with a multi-disciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence.

  • Demonstrates mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual operations problems, determining operational objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse architectural activities

  • Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

  • Serves as the professional specialist for the organization in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles and processes for an assigned area of responsibility. Is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of reliance on their professional interpretations and technical knowledge.

  • Is a recognized leader and authority in a broad area of specialization or in a narrow, but highly specialized field

  • Is responsible for the architectural program when the program is of limited complexity and scope, or plans and coordinates detailed phases of a major program

  • Provides support and leadership to others in achieving the technical objectives of the overall work effort.

  • Regularly called upon as a key expert in business development pursuits.

  • Consults clients and makes recommendations to overall senior project leadership as a key liaison across teams. are met

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interiors from an accredited university

  • 8+ years of experience in the design and management of Corporate Interiors projects

  • Experience in all areas of Corporate Interiors projects working with real estate brokers, and corporate clients

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Architecture or Interiors from an accredited university

  • 10+ years of experience

  • Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Project, Excel and Word

  • CA Registered Architect and LEED AP
