In this role you will primarily assist with the delivery of bridge engineering projects for our Transportation Bridge Team.
While your main duties will be technical work, you will also be required to undertake client liaison, work package scoping, preparing costs estimates, negotiating variations, technical supervision and mentoring of work package teams, and cost and schedule monitoring to deliver bridge engineering work packages.
The position requires the ability to provide leadership and mentoring to small and medium sized design teams in development of repair schemes and detailed designs of highway and railway bridge structures. Design will often be carried out in close collaboration with design teams from other disciplines and will often involve client liaison.
Timely execution of design packages, working within project time frames and the requirements of approval processes.
The ability to introduce innovative ideas.
Compliance with relevant codes and standards.
Actively participate in and contribute to the technical aspects of projects to achieve accuracy of design.
Successfully manage small to medium sized projects.
Escalate issues or problems where appropriate.
Manage risks associated with project delivery
Client satisfaction (clients, government departments, contractors).
Assist the Team Leader - Bridges to deliver the growth, diversification and stability targets set out in the business group budget.
Experience in bridge design, including detail design, inspection, assessment, and strengthening and repair of bridge structures.
Appropriate tertiary qualification
Approximately 7 – 12 years in bridge structures design.
Exposure to structural analysis packages such as ACES SPACEGASS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design (SAM/LEAP), LUSAS
Familiarity with Main Roads WA requirements is desirable.
Knowledge of Primavera P6/MS Project (desirable)
Successful track record leading small and medium sized projects
Communication skills – writes clear and succinct messages? communicates with passion and conviction and can influence others? is an attentive and active listener? able to communicate at all levels.
Demonstrated commercial acumen, and ability to develop a client base.
Knowledge of the market for consulting services.
High level of general computer skills, e.g. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, or/and other project management applications, Microsoft Word and Power Point, Primavera P6 (desirable).
