Job Summary

The AECOM Water Business Line is looking for an Engineer having the ability to perform analysis and design of navigation and dredging, wetlands restoration, shoreline protection, marinas and shoreline development, harbor works, beach nourishment, and related projects for our 5444

Westheimer Road office in Houston, Texas.

Candidate must possess the following skills: strong analytical skills and demonstrate familiarity with wave analysis, coastal and estuarine hydrodynamics, littoral processes, sediment transport, and geotechnical or structural systems. Depending on experience level of candidate, responsibilities may also include development of project scope and fee estimates, and project management.

  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design

elements for engineering works.

  • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 4 YORE or AA/AS (US) + 6 YORE or Diploma/Certificate (Canada) + 6 YORE or HS/GED + 8 YORE

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Coastal, Ocean, Naval Architecture, or Civil Engineering

  • 4+ years of relevant experience (construction, engineering, consultants, internships, etc.).

  • Reputation as a high performer.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Knowledge or familiarity in GIS and/or CAD.

  • Ability to work both independently and in group environments.

  • Willingness to travel (typically for one to three days).

  • Texas Professional Engineer Registration

  • Master's Degree in in Coastal or Ocean Engineering or relevant field is preferred.

  • Professional certification and/or registration, depending on discipline.

  • Experience with Galveston, Fort Worth, Mobile, and New Orleans Districts of the USACE

  • Texas or Federal project experience

  • Experience focused on Hydraulic, Geotechnical, or Structural
