Job Summary

The Design and Consulting Services Group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented and experienced Transportation Engineer for immediate employment in our Oakland, CA office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The new employee can look forward to supporting a wide range of planning and preliminary engineering projects for roadway, transit systems, managed lanes, bicycle, and pedestrian facilities. The successful candidate will assist project engineers on various projects involving transportation plans, traffic safety, and public involvement. This position is for an engineer who will be part of a team that includes planners, project engineers, environmental scientists, landscape architects, and other support staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA / BS plus 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or appropriate discipline

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in transportation planning and engineering for multimodal transportation projects

  • Registered Professional Engineer in California is preferred

  • Progressive design experience on Caltrans transportation projects

  • Proficiency with MicroStation

  • Proficiency with Inroads, or AutoCAD Civil 3D

  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs and other relevant software programs preferably MS Schedule

  • Experience with FHWA, State, and local transportation planning and environmental processes

  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to discuss projects with co-workers, clients, regulatory agency staff, AECOM staff, and the public in meetings and at public events

  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to write concise and readable technical reports and documents

  • Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail-oriented work, work independently, and demonstrate effective time management skills

  • Must have a valid driver's license
