Desktop Systems Administrator

KBR is seeking a Desktop Systems Administrator to join its talented team in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. KBR, headquartered in Houston Texas, is the primary contractor to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for performing work at the Earth Resources Observation and Science ( EROS ) Center ( ) near Sioux Falls, SD . ( at ). The Desktop Systems Administrator will join our talented TSSC Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) located at the USGS EROS Center. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide tier 2 desktop vulnerability remediation for systems and applications.

Education : Minimum of an AA in Computer Science; BS/BA preferred. Education may be substituted for experience at manager’s discretion.

Experience : Minimum of one year of directly-related technical, professional experience required.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated scripting skills using PowerShell and/or Visual Basic.
  • Proficiency with SCCM (reporting, installing software patches and creating software packages)
  • Support for system clients such as SCCM, IEM, SEP, FireEye, and McAfee Encryption
  • Proficiency with IBM Endpoint Manager (IEM) and Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP)
  • Manage and perform desktop system patching and OSD using SCCM
  • Implement patches and implement corrective actions needed to mitigate security risks and vulnerabilities
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows ACLs
  • Knowledge of Information Assurance principles and best practices and ability to apply to one’s work.
  • Understanding of a wide variety of desktop applications.
  • Will be responsible for developing weekly/monthly system vulnerability reports
  • Remediate software version vulnerabilities and keep on top of changes to the environment
  • Continuously monitor, identify and remediate security deficiencies on EROS desktop systems and 3rd party applications
  • Ensure systems have appropriate security baselines and up-to-date vulnerability patches
  • Install patches to address security deficiencies
  • Ensure desktop security, including data integrity, file encryption and related hardware/software is standardized and in compliance with EROS / USGS policies
  • Design, test, deploy, document and support a standardized desktop and laptop image consisting of the operating systems and all supported applications
  • Ability to remediate complex technical issues elevated by the tier 1 staff
  • Experience working within enterprise ticket systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills

In addition to the above responsibilities, this position requires the ability to support the desktop infrastructure and the EROS Call Center.

The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation after hire to obtain a badge for facility access and user accounts.
