Title:

Network Cloud Architect

Position Description/Job Responsibilities

  • As part of the Strategy and Architecture team, the Network Cloud Architect is responsible for the design, documentation and consulting support for the implementation of KBR’s enterprise network infrastructure which includes connectivity into the Internet and cloud services
  • Additionally, assessing any proposed solutions brought forward by other architects or operational teams and to validate the best comprehensive design for the need/environment
  • This position will lead architectural and technical decisions, providing technical direction, coordination and service integration
  • These solutions should be stable, secure, highly available and scalable to evolving technology/architecture whilst ensuring that network monitoring, performance and capacity management are also considered.
  • This position will lead, give technical guidance, and collaborate with vendors, cross-functional teams, IT and business partners and provide stakeholder management to ensure KBR networks adhere and align with the long-term enterprise-wide vision supporting more than 20,000 users, clients and suppliers
  • The Network Cloud Architect may also be asked to assist or consult on the resolution of complex technical operations problems and to review standard designs (for example new site) and provide technical direction and will be expected to work closely with teams to support the migration of on-premise workloads to cloud environments
  • The Network Cloud Architect will also work closely with Applications and DevOps, quality assurance, business analysts, infrastructure operations and other architects to improve network/security designs and refine processes for efficiency
  • Other responsibilities include participating in the development of KBR’s Network strategy and associated Security and keeping up to date with new technologies including, but not limited to, cloud computing & deployment, site reliability engineering, network design/architecture, infrastructure automation, and security best practices

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum nine (9) years of experience in implementing and supporting networks
  • The successful candidate will have the technical knowledge to collect and understand business requirements in the area of networking and then be able to develop strategies and solutions for implementation by the Operations teams
  • The position requires highly effective documentation and communications skills as well as technical skills
  • Experience with Cisco technologies as well as experience with proxy, reverse-proxy, VPN (client and soho), WAN optimization, Software Defined Networking (SDN), SD-WAN, and Cloud Security technologies
  • In-Depth knowledge and experience working with Cisco network operation systems, network design, routing and switching and network equipment (ASA, Nexus Prime)
  • Experience in developing solutions in the following areas: routing and switching, wireless, WAN optimization (preferably Riverbed), QoS, application load balancer (preferably F5), VPN technologies and network diagnostic and monitoring toolsets
  • Proven understanding of routing protocols in global enterprise WAN environment
  • Ability to provide consulting support for networking hardware, software, configuration, or other issues
  • Review new and emerging network technologies and verify alignment with business strategy/objectives; drive adoption where appropriate
  • Assist in managing vendor and third party relationships – both new and existing
  • Proven ability for producing documentation that has global applicability
  • Familiarity in liaising with third party providers
  • Develop high-level (and sometimes detailed level) plans for integration or divergence of new/existing business entities
  • Establish standards for network hardware, network configuration and implementation, and perform periodic audits for compliance
  • Current Cisco certifications required: CCNA, CCNP, etc.
  • Strong experience as a Network Engineer on Cisco equipment (Routers, Switches)
  • Excellent core routing protocol experience (EIGRP, GBP, IS-IS, STP, VTP, vPC, MPLS, OSPF, DMVPN
  • Cisco wireless WLC controller and Access Points, Cisco ACS-ISE
  • Experience with Overlay Transport Virtualization (OTV)
  • Experience with Netflow and Solarwinds NPM, NCM and IPAM
  • Working knowledge of F5 Big IP load-balancing, ASM, APM, BigIP-DNS
  • Experience identifying and implementing CASB services
  • Understanding of proxy and reverse-proxy solutions; whether cloud-based or implemented on-prem
  • Experience in evaluating and implementing various SDN solutions for enablement of cloud services, including cloud DR and also workload portability in a hybrid cloud environment
  • Experience in evaluation and implementing SD-WAN solutions for network optimization
  • Produce professional diagrams and documentation for networks and operational best practices, standards, policies and procedures, using Visio
