Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced automotive mechanic to join our 1st shift facilities operations & maintenance team in Mossville, IL!

  • Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm; hours may vary based on business demand.

Primary responsibilities include performing

preventive and corrective maintenance to a wide variety of fleet vehicles, including but not limited to,

light duty trucks and cars of all U.S. automaker models and various fork truck and lift equipment.

The Fleet Mechanic 4 ensures all appropriate mechanical operations, standards, controls, and specifications, are maintained at a high level of quality. Must have the ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair the following automotive systems:

electrical, mechanical, environmental, drive train, body, and HVAC.

Strong mechanical/electrical skills are required. Must use a personal computer to communicate and transact all parts orders and work orders using AECOM’s CMMS system. Must have experience with Preventative Maintenance programs and processes and with a Safety Program that utilizes Lockout/Tagout. Must be a self-motivated, self-managed individual.


  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair automotive, material handling, and lift equipment.

  • Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Respond and provide service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.

  • Recommend measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.

  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

  • Safely perform functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.

  • Operate various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.

  • Operate a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.

Minimum Requirements

  1. High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  2. Five years of experience in mechanical automotive repair in a fleet maintenance environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.

  3. Valid driver’s license.

  • This position will require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.

  • Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.

  • Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.

  • Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.

  • Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.

  • Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.

  • Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.

  • Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.

  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.

Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.

  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Associates degree or technical certification in industrial mechanical, HVAC, or related Facility Maintenance discipline.

  2. Welding certification.

  3. Experience with building mechanical equipment operation, diagnostics and repairs.

  4. Experience performing preventive maintenance on facility related equipment.

  5. Experience performing pipefitting, welding, fabrication, and millwright related work.

  6. Experience welding using MIG, TIG, and arc welders.

  7. Experience maintaining basic plumbing needs.

  8. Experience with basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs.

  9. Experience working in a CMMS environment.

Other Attributes:

  • Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
