Job Summary

AECOM’s specialty Transit & Rail practice is seeking a Senior Rail Transportation Manager for large and complex multi-disciplinary rail projects, serving both transit and freight-rail clients (heavy rail and LRT). Based in AECOM’s Mississauga Ontario office, this role involves:

  • Managing large and complex projects for transit and freight rail clients.

  • Preparing proposals for new work.

  • Business development / developing leads aiding in winning new work.

  • Preparing, monitoring and forecasting budgets/costs and project schedules.

  • Building project teams and managing project staffing.

  • Preparing and monitoring scopes of work and methodologies.

  • Chairing frequent meetings (internal and client).

  • Overseeing quality review process for submittals.

  • Non-project management project, or non-core, work could include some or all of design reviews, scheduling, report writing, presenting.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience including experience managing transit or rail projects.

  • Directs and managers the entire project, guidance to subordinate managers, enforces company and project policies, and a primary liaison between AECOM and client interface.

  • Accountable for all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule.

  • Overall responsibility and management of project including but not limited to budgeting/schedule stage, procurement, through contract closeout.

  • Position has primary fiscal responsibility and key liaison between client for assigned project.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally 10+ years of experience with class one railways (CN, CP, BNSF, etc.)

  • CROR trained

  • PMP designation.

  • P.Eng designation.

  • Have experience managing large and complex multi-disciplinary projects (e.g. track, civil, signals, structural, architectural, environmental, electrical, systems, etc.).

  • Foundational experience that might include design and/or site work and/or construction / operations.

  • Experience dealing with both clients and technical staff.

  • A technical foundation in design, construction, maintenance, or operations.

  • Experience working on projects for Metrolinx, CN, CP, TTC, VIA Rail, AMT, OC Transpo, or similar.

  • US or overseas experience is considered acceptable / equivalent to Canadian experience, but local (Toronto) experience is ideal.

  • Experience with various delivery / procurement methods is an asset including design-build and P3.
