Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a mid to senior-level engineer/geologist/environmental scientist for employment to be a task leader for a variety of military munitions response and environmental projects (i.e., Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and Remedial Actions) for the Federal sector. The successful candidate will have at a minimum a BS in Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science with a successful work history of environmental investigation and remediation projects primarily for the DoD. Experience within the consulting industry demonstrating technical leadership in conducting military munitions response and environmental investigations and through site clean-up and closure. Candidate must also be able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Field work may be required including oversight of subcontractors.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Project and task management, client interaction, proposal writing, cost estimating, remedial systems design, overseeing implementation/construction of remedial actions, technical report writing, and mentoring.

  • Qualified candidates must be comfortable with periodic travel.

  • Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative.

  • Anticipated division of job-related tasks is about a 90/10 percent split between office and field work.

  • Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies develop technical solutions to complex problems.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, provincial and national regulations to ensure compliance. Work is performed with minimal direction.

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Responsible for advanced duties and activities in their specialized functional area

  • Conducts research and does investigation work as required

  • Plans and organizes project studies.

  • Assists in the resolution of conflicting technical information and unsuitability of standard procedures complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems.

  • May oversee the work of less experienced scientists.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements include:

  • BA/BS+ 6 years of experience or AA/AS + 8 years of experience

  • 7+ years of experience within the consulting industry, demonstrating technical leadership in conducting remedial investigations and design.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Field work will be required, including oversight of subcontractors.

  • US Citizen, for access to DoD project sites

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree in Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science

  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) and preparing technical reports.

  • Excellent skills in written and spoken communication (including polished client presentation skills), organization, time management

  • Able to work as part of a project team comprised of AECOM staff and subcontractors.
