The Buildings + Places Planning Department of AECOM is actively recruiting for a Planner/Project Manager for immediate employment at our office in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Planner/Project Manager work includes providing technical expertise and project-level leadership for a broad range of multidisciplinary projects, including facility and community plans, military installation plans (ADP, IDP), special planning studies, permitting, and state and Federal environmental compliance processes (NEPA, HEPA).
The candidate must have a strong interest in developing and delivering high quality and innovative planning documents; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and a strong interest in working in a fast-paced and collaborative multidisciplinary team environment. Experience working in Hawaii preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides technical expertise and experience as a discipline expert, mentor and coach
May conduct peer reviews and make technical presentations
Works autonomously within established procedures and practices, with latitude to determine work priorities
Typically leads junior team members but continues to perform day to day work activities providing technical or operational guidance to employees, colleagues and customers
May have formal supervisory responsibilities defining team operating standards and ensuring essential procedures are followed
Assists with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs
Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications
Analyzes complex issues and guides solutions to challenging issues within a team within their function, business unit or technical discipline, using standard operating procedures/methodologies as a basis and defining new procedures and methods as needed
Applies acquired expertise and knowledge to solve business challenges and provide coaching to peers and team members
Sought for technical experience, able to influence customers, suppliers and managers
Actively pursues continuous learning of technical advances, emerging business/industry trends and competitive positioning
Interacts regularly with clients to expand work assignments or market new work
May be preparing marketing materials and making calls to potential new clients

The ideal candidate should have 6+ years’ work experience in Urban, Spatial, and/or Environmental Planning.
Bachelors Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline (for example: geography, landscape architecture)
Project Management experience
Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite of software applications
Understanding of ArcGIS, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign software
Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or a related discipline
Experience with Hawaii planning projects
Proficiency using ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
