Labor Relations Manager

The Labor Relations Manager will have responsibility for collective bargaining agreement negotiations, CBA administration, delivery of labor-related training modules, and leading positive employee and union relations for assigned areas. The job is for someone who loves labor relations and likes working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented business environment which presents daily challenges.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Operate as the Company's Chief-Spokesperson and develop the company's overall labor negotiations strategy and bargaining parameters.
  • Develop positive working relationships with labor union leadership
  • Ensure compliance with the National Labor Relations Act and other applicable laws.
  • Oversee labor agreement administration including advising operations on disciplinary and contract interpretation issues and compliance with local Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Manage the preparation and presentation of charges related to the National Labor Relations Act which may be completed with internal staff and / or outside counsel.
  • Provide advice on interpretation of collective bargaining agreements, and arbitrate grievances when necessary.
  • Provide advice and counsel on Service Contract Act (SCA) compliance and administration.
  • Coordinate the Risk Assessment process to ensure effective follow-up and closure of issues that drive vulnerability.
  • Develop predictive analytic models that enable the department to most effectively meet our goals of maximizing associate engagement as well as creating leverage in contract negotiations.
  • Ensure consistent Associate Relations practices, strategy, and program execution throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Work with field Human Resources staff to implement and maintain proactive, positive associate relations initiatives.
  • Discharge and disciplinary reviews, other projects as assigned.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Experience handling grievances, and presenting cases to grievance panels or arbitrators preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal / persuasion skills,
  • Strong, confident negotiator who can develop relationships
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and work at specific locations as required.

Experience and Education :

Undergraduate Degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Labor Relations, Business Administration or related field with a minimum 9 years’ experience in industrial (labor) relations or operations in unionized environment with strong knowledge in contract negotiations and employment law.

JD or other advanced degree is preferred.
