Job Summary

AECOM is looking for a GIS Specialist to work as an on-site contractor at a client site to provide GIS data management and analysis services.

This position is based at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC, and it is not located at Wilmington NC

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting editing procedures in ArcMap

  • Working with enterprise geodatabases, managing content and developing apps in portal for ArcGIS

  • Formatting data to the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure and Environment (SDSFIE)

  • Creating and maintaining Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) compliant metadata

  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to obtain geospatial data requirements.

  • Under supervision from senior staff, contributes to the designing and programming of SDSFIE compliant databases.

  • Supports the creation and visualization of data layers and map products using the esri software suite.

  • Participates in field data collection using Global Positioning Systems (GPS), laser scanning, or related technology.

  • Supports the internal publication of standard map products and maintain, update and document GIS data standards/specifications.

  • Meets with subject matter experts to discuss topics, such as technical specifications, customized solutions and operational problems.

  • Performs quality assurance on data deliverables received for inclusion in the GIS.

  • Manage web-based geospatial content/apps/systems and maintain a digital GIS Program Binder detailing the processes and actions involved in completing assigned duties.

  • Creates, analyzes, reports, converts or transfers data using esri GIS software.

Minimum Requirements

This position is based at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, NC, and it is not located at Wilmington NC

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geography, planning, engineering, computer science, or a related technical field with emphasis in geographic information systems (GIS)

  • 2 years of ArcGIS desktop GIS experience

  • Valid driver’s license

  • US Citizen based on need to obtaining a secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience with the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure and Environment (SDSFIE)

  • Must have the ability to work with a team of professionals

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Will be required to work independently and communicate directly with customers from environmental, energy and other business areas
