Project Coordinator – Engineering

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for all phases of planning and execution on a small (typically less than $10 million total installed cost) project or may be responsible for a segment of a larger project. Possesses knowledge of the respective industry. Job role has budgetary accountability.

Work is located on a large chemical site in Burkville, AL.


  • Plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls small engineering projects in line with established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by company
  • Responsible for day to day contact and communication with the client and focuses on providing client satisfaction
  • Day to day contact and communication with clients and project teams
  • Managing project execution to contractual requirements
  • Assist and plan, organize, coordinate, and control projects within budget policies and procedures
  • Interface with daily communication of client (SABIC), and contractors to ensure projects are held to schedule and are following construction HSSE requirements providing QA/QC services
  • Assist Team Leader managing operations and project execution of BKV/BSL Plant through coordination and support
  • Coordinate teams to design and execute capital improvement projects. These projects will be handed off to KBR in a complete CDP to provide the scope of the project. Critical deliverables include budget, schedule, and scope attainment
  • Assist with coordination of the all project documentation and process safety information including design basis, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, MOC, construction plans etc.
  • Responsible for technical/operational leadership of a project/mission within the programmatic guidelines set by the program manager and customer.
  • Defines, generates, and reviews project requirements documentation. Performs technical studies to refine project requirements.
  • Monitors project to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained.
  • Provides the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received.
  • May conduct performance/project analyses during phase-down to benefit future/other projects/missions/programs.
  • Incumbents have experience as engineers before moving into this project role
  • Performs routine assignments in the entry level to a professional job progression.

  • No formal supervisory responsibility.


  • Skills are typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2 to 6 years of experience working on capital projects
  • Experience in working in a cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to think critically and problem-solve
  • Chemical plant background preferred, not required

Physical Qualifications

Work includes field walk downs which require the following activities:

  • extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces.
  • Some lifting may be required.
  • Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
  • Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
