Are you passionate about Sustainability? Do you want to be part of a UK wide team developing carbon strategies and action plans for achieving net zero? If you are an experienced Principal Consultant and would love to be part of our established Sustainable Development Group based in our Bristol, Cardiff and Birmingham offices, this is the role for you.
You will need to have a good technical understanding of energy and GHG emissions, and renewable energy technologies, as well as strong numerical and data analysis skills. As well a proven track record of developing GHG emissions reduction strategies, mitigation pathways and deployment plans.
Although the role is quite broad, you will be given plenty of support and mentoring from technical specialists in the team, many of whom are leading experts in the subject.
AECOM is also committed to putting its own house in order, and has just launched, in partnership with WSP, a new “Pledge to Net-Zero” campaign in the UK www.pledgetonetzero.org .This urges companies from across the environmental services sector to set science-based targets and report annually on decarbonization progress. We have also signed up to the UK Engineers Declarations on Climate Change.
Degree in engineering, physics, environmental science, or mathematics related discipline
Highly proficient in the use of Excel
Proven ability to manipulate data and present data analysis in an impactful way to stakeholders
Highly numerate and ability to work methodically through complex datasets and calculations
Technical skills relating to energy use and GHG emissions and/or renewable energy
Experience of modelling carbon and GHG emissions trajectories and mitigation scenarios across multiple sectors and at a range of scales
Proven track record of developing strategic carbon/ GHG emissions reduction strategies and implementation plans
Proven ability to bid for and secure new work in this field
Experience of working in a consultancy environment, to deadlines and a fixed budget
If not currently chartered, ideally should be working towards chartership with a relevant institution (e.g. CIBSE, Energy Institute, IEMA)?
Experience with demand side management and/or energy storage
Experience of techno-economic modelling of low carbon heat networks
Knowledge of smart systems/ smart grids
Knowledge of new fuels and technologies – e.g. hydrogen.
Knowledge of GHG accounting and reporting methodologies and experience of working with clients to report on GHG emissions
Experience with assessment of climate risk and developing climate adaptation strategies
Line management experience
