Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a dynamic Interiors focused Associate Director who communicates with clarity, purpose and accuracy to work in it’s Manchester-based Architecture & Interiors team.

The role requires a fully capable professional who will help build and lead a design group (circa 15 staff) and is ultimately responsible for the management of large-scale projects from bidding to delivery.

The Associate Director acts as a Bid Manager for small to medium scale project opportunities and is responsible to the development of the company by supporting the senior management team in the progressive evolution of AECOM’s design philosophy, research activities and technical development for the business.

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven related professional experience in an Architectural or Interior Design Practice

  • Experience of working on large scale projects including site experience

  • Ability to build, develop and maintain client relationships and support the management of key client accounts with a pipeline of work over time.

  • Actively participate in marketing and business development and will ideally have worked in the local market for several years.

  • Confidently present work to clients, stakeholders and colleagues

  • Ability to think strategically – an in depth understanding of client challenges and how design can address them

  • Leads small to medium scale bids and contribute to preparation of large / framework bids.

  • Responsible for Interior Design resource planning of the unit and reports specific project needs to senior AECOM Management

  • Excellent Interior design skills complimented by good hand sketching skills. Able to sketch something quickly in order to show ideas and concepts

  • Excellent skills in the use a variety of software / media in the development, of presentations and documentation

  • Full understanding of Safety in Design requirements and able to develop the principals with the design team & practice

  • Outstanding presentation skills (drawn, written & verbal)

  • Awareness of Revit, AutoCAD, Sketch-up, word processing and presentation software such as InDesign, illustrator, Photoshop. Knowledge and experience of Rhino, SketchUp and 3D Max.

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Bachelor of Interior Design
