The Opportunity

The Civil Engineering Discipline Manager (DM-Civil) will lead and manage our Victorian Civil team and be accountable for team development and welfare, and strongly contribute to client relationships, business development and sales, technical oversight and the commercial success of the business unit. You will work with a diverse team of highly regarded people who are committed to ensuring we remain a key partner to our clients.

You will have input into the strategic direction of our Victorian business by drawing on your experience, knowledge and contacts to identify market trends, future opportunities and potential clients. You will collaborate with interstate colleagues on major infrastructure projects and guide and support your local team of approximately 15-20 civil professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the civil engineering team of professional and para-professional engineering staff
  • Guide and coach junior and mid-career engineers, designers and drafters in the preparation of models, designs, drawings and undertake review of these drawings
  • Manage your teams overhead budget allocation in terms of time and expenses, as well as allocated project and proposal budgets
  • Establish strategies for achieving individual and work unit goals
  • Manage some small to medium projects and proposals as a seller/doer
  • Contribute to the business development for projects in Victoria with civil engineering work scope
  • Assist the formulation and implementation of strategic relationships with organisations that will assist KBR in expanding the Civil business
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement that are integrated into client consultation and Discipline delivery

Qualifications & Experience

  • This is a senior appointment and as such we are seeking a highly skilled individual who is at the forefront of the Vic Civil market
  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering
  • Postgraduate degree highly regarded
  • 15+ years of consulting/design/technical experience in the infrastructure field
  • Project management and proposal preparation experience along with the ability to write clearly and fluently about technical subjects or project delivery methodologies
  • A proven track record leading successful teams of professionals
  • Preparation of bid budgets, writing proposals and preparation of marketing materials;
  • Demonstrated expertise in writing high level technical reports, conference papers and presentation material
