AECOM is actively seeking a creative and highly motivated Water Resources Engineer III for employment in the Salt Lake City office, Utah to support an array of water resources projects including surface water modeling, floodplain mapping, municipal stormwater design, and drainage design.
Candidates can expect a diverse set of assignments primarily focused on flood risk analysis and mapping. There will also be opportunities to work with staff experienced in roadway design, waste water treatment plant design, and more.
The position will involve working on projects for federal agencies, local municipalities, and private clients to conduct hydrologic & hydraulic modeling and drainage design.
? Job responsibilities:
Perform complex hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling and analyses as per the FEMA NFIP guidelines and specifications.
Develop and complete 1-dimensional and 2-dimensional hydraulic modeling using HEC-RAS and SRH2D software
Work with a team of Project managers, Senior Water Resources Engineers and GIS specialists in support of FEMA floodplain modeling and mapping studies, and transportation drainage design
Prepare and review technical reports including engineering calculations, research, planning and engineering reports
Perform quality reviews and mentor/assist junior engineers in performing H&H modeling and design
Lead in field investigations in collecting data to perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
Assist project managers in several water resources projects like transportation drainage design, and storm water planning and design
Supporting business development efforts by supporting proposal efforts; including RFP responses and associated schedule, scope, and cost estimates
Writing and reviewing engineering reports and technical memorandum for submittal to a wide variety of clients.
Ability to create designs, calculations, schematic drawings, and final working drawings using programs such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
BS or MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in water resources, hydrology, hydraulic engineering, or related field required
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required, or the ability to obtain Utah reciprocity within six months.
6 to 10 years of relevant experience
Experience with FEMA NFIP floodplain regulations and standards
Experience with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, RAS2D, SRH3D, AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D and ArcGIS
Experience or Familiarity with FEMA Base Level Engineering (BLE) studies
Familiarity or experience with Software programming
Experience with DOTs, Flood Control Districts and Federal Agencies
Ability to work on multiple projects and manage time appropriately
Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) preferred
