Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Works under general supervision.
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, preferably Chemistry, Atmospheric, or Environmental Science
Broad computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Coursework in statistics
Strong technical writing skills
Interest in air quality and environmental science
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
Aptitude for working independently and within a team
Coursework in Computer Science
Experience with Oracle Databases
Experience with programming languages (VBA, VBScript, SQL+, UNIX, Java)
Experience with statistical software packages (Stata, R, etc.)
Experience in website development
Hands-on experience with air monitoring instrumentation
