Job Summary

  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.

  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.

  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.

  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.

  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Works under general supervision.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, preferably Chemistry, Atmospheric, or Environmental Science

  • Broad computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Coursework in statistics

  • Strong technical writing skills

  • Interest in air quality and environmental science

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills

  • Aptitude for working independently and within a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework in Computer Science

  • Experience with Oracle Databases

  • Experience with programming languages (VBA, VBScript, SQL+, UNIX, Java)

  • Experience with statistical software packages (Stata, R, etc.)

  • Experience in website development

  • Hands-on experience with air monitoring instrumentation
