Job Summary

AECOM is looking for exceptional Senior Planner to join our busy Parks Planning and Design Studio located in Raleigh, North Carolina. AECOM’s Parks Studio is focused on the planning and design of parks, public open space, greenways, trails, and bicycle and pedestrian facilities. We continually plan and deliver some of the premier, award-winning park system planning projects across the country and excellent open space design projects in the North Carolina region. Our multidisciplinary studio works closely with urban designers, architects, engineers, economists, community outreach and other related professionals to develop award winning integrated projects. As a Senior Planner you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of project types at all stages of the design and implementation process. The successful candidate will work closely with the management team to lead project development and delivery. We’ll provide you support in an environment that allows you to grow and succeed.

Key Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to prepare innovative conceptual park plans and urban public realm planning alongside studio leadership

• Ability to clearly write design reports, design & access statements and construction specifications are essential

• Ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams

• Ability to be proactive, confident and self-motivated with leadership qualities

• Comfortable working in a team environment

• Desire and ability to work independently and as part of a larger design team

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, write clearly, and resolve problems creatively

• A passion for parks and open space

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor or Master of Landscape Architecture from an LAAB-accredited program, or Bachelor or Master of Urban Planning

• North Carolina Registered Landscape Architect or the ability to obtain within the first six months of employment

• 5+ years of proven applied experience in public realm planning

• Strong project management experience and the ability to manage competing deadlines and project budgets.

• Experience with project coordination that involves client meetings, group presentations, and the resolution of typical issues/challenges associated with high-quality design products

• High degree of competency in Adobe Creative Suite (mandatory), MS Office Suite, and ArcGIS.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Landscape Architecture or Master of Urban Planning

• Knowledge of LEED and SITES sustainability principles, methods and practices

• Spanish language proficiency

• Registration with National Recreation and Parks Association
