AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Civil Engineer to expand our Water Resources practice in the Salt Lake City Area.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

  • Work with a team of Project managers, Water Resources Engineers and GIS specialists in support of FEMA floodplain modeling and mapping studies, transportation drainage design, and other several water resources projects

  • Performs Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) modeling and analyses to comply with FEMA guidelines and specifications

  • Perform one dimensional and two-dimensional floodplain modeling using software applications like HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and SRH2D

  • Efficiently work with ArcGIS software in support of floodplain modeling and mapping

  • Prepare project reports including engineering calculations, research, planning and technical engineering reports

  • Assist project managers and senior engineers in several water resources projects like transportation drainage design, and storm water planning and design

  • Assist in field investigations in collecting data to perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or other related field

Preferred Qualifications

This position does not include relocation or sponsorship for United States work authorization.

  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)
