The selected candidate will serve as the Software Engineer for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Software Engineering and Acquisition Management Division (AIR 4.9.4) supporting Systems and Software Integration and Software Development, Platform Simulation, Integration and Laboratory Engineering, and Software Engineering. Software Engineer duties will include supporting the following phases of software development: system resource evaluation, software requirements evaluation, software definition, code and unit test, integration test, software delivery, and independent test. Additionally, the Software Engineer will assist in maintaining software configuration management and support configuration audits. The Software Engineer will work independently and with a small to large teams to develop and maintain code for mission systems software applications and capabilities, as well as providing system updates and enhancements. CONUS/OCONUS travel may be required. The position will be located at NAS Patuxent River, MD.
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field with 5 years of relevant experience. The selected candidate must demonstrate understanding of the software development life cycle including gathering requirements, software design, implementation, documentation, configuration management, test, and support. He or she must have demonstrated experience with Agile and Waterfall software development processes. The candidate must be proficient with the use of the Microsoft Office family of software including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Previous experience with NAVAIR programs software development support is desired.
