Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Rail Engineer in our Philadelphia office to work in an established Rail Engineering Department, serving national and international freight and transit clients. This is a prominent role and outstanding opportunity for an ambitious, career oriented professional who excels in a team environment, but is also able to work independently.

The Philadelphia Rail Department is engaged in projects around the country and is in constant coordination with staff in different offices across AECOM. Enthusiastic individuals eager to face new challenges and take on personal responsibilities are best qualified to meet the demands of this work.   • Lead discipline team and/or multi-discipline teams to drive project delivery and meet the deliverables.

  • Apply knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices, exercise judgment in setting path for design approach, and executing the approach utilizing a team.

  • Produce high quality plans, specifications, and estimates that are accurate and effective in communicating the design concept to the contractor. Confirm all deliverables agree and are coordinated across design disciplines.

  • Assist in project proposals, lead the AECOM quality process on project deliverables, and focus on project delivery.

  • Coordinate with project manager and other design disciplines on project submissions, plan reviews, and client interactions.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree and 8+ years of more of demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Experience in freight rail or transit projects including experience with rail corridor design, special trackwork, rail terminal and yard design.

  • Demonstrated experience leading design teams and mentoring junior engineers. Experience using InRoads and/or Civil 3D design software packages for the conceptual and detailed design of horizontal and vertical alignments, sections, and 3D modeling on rail and/or highway projects is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10 years of more of experience

  • Master's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering

  • Experience with freight or transit rail clients

  • Track Inspection
