Mechanical Engineer


This position will support mechanical analysis projects supporting aircraft weapon system programs. Specifically, the engineer will provide analyses, planning and draft documentation to address mechanical, electrical or avionics systems Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) requirements. The engineer will review aircraft maintenance data and perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Subsystem Hazard Analysis, engineering and configuration analysis, and develop engineering technical requirements for aircraft mechanical, electrical or avionics system components. The focus of effort will be primarily in support of the T-38 but could also include A-10 and F-16 projects.

Tasks include but are not limited to engineering evaluation, analysis, and recommended disposition of technical assistance requests for aircraft mechanical, electrical or avionics systems. The engineer will use SolidWorks or other CAD programs to create 3D models of aircraft mechanical, electrical or avionics components.

The engineer will develop and manage large MS Excel spreadsheets. The engineer will write technical reports detailing analyses in MS Word as well as Adobe Pro. This position may be tasked to support similar duties on various other USAF weapon systems.


Bachelor’s Degree in a Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited University.

Clearance Requirement: US Citizen with eligibility for a DoD Secret Security Clearance.


Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering plus two years experience

Experience or interest in working on military aircraft, mechanical, electrical, or avionics systems

Experience working with ISO9100 requirements

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE The ideal candidate will have:

  • Aircraft systems experience
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis techniques and SolidWorks or AutoCAD
  • Ability to interpret failure data from multiple DOD maintenance databases
  • Develop and manage large MS Excel Spreadsheets
  • Coordinate with other technical personnel in solving technical problems, gathering information, cost estimates and specifications
  • Compile and prepare comprehensive technical report
  • Work in a team environment and possess good communication skills, both written and oral
