Job Summary

AECOM is searching for an Assistant Resident Engineer for immediate employment at our Gilboa Dam work site in Gilboa, New York. The Assistant Resident Engineer reports directly to a project Resident Engineer and is responsible to perform the following activities:

  • Assist the RE in his responsibilities, as assigned by the RE.

  • Maintaining a record set of Contract Drawings to include all revisions received from the DE/DSDC as revised drawings or by letter and to reflect installed field conditions. The As-Built Designer will assist in this task.

  • Maintain a Red-Line Set of Contract Drawings to include all revisions received from the A/E as revised drawings through E Builder or by letter and to reflect installed field conditions.

  • Directing the field inspection staff in the assignment of their duties and reviewing their Daily Inspection Reports.

  • Establishing the requirements for utilizing the CMJV’S Surveyor and supervising the activities on the site, with the assistance of the Chief Inspector.

  • Attending the Contractor’s Coordination Meetings to resolve conflicts. Obtaining assistance from the CM, RE and DSDC staff as required.

  • Assists the QAM in implementing the EMP at the Project Site on a day to day basis.

  • Assist in the preparation of Change Orders

  • Oversees contact administration of the construction contractor Supervises the inspection team(s)

  • Interfaces with the contractor

  • Prepares correspondences;

  • Coordinates with the Contractor to identify upcoming work

  • Maintains a work-off list of incomplete work

  • Oversee Submittal process for timeliness and execution

  • Assists the Project Management team in reviewing and implementing RFI's and change orders.

  • Review project costs and scheduling to ensure completion of project within budget and in conformance with specifications.

  • Work with document control systems, project management systems and other software or databases to keep information flow up-to-date and accurate.

  • Attend meetings and report on project tasks as needed.

  • Monitor design changes, contractor and sub-contractor activities and progress.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 4+ plus years experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ plus years experience in Construction Management on major Civil Construction Projects

  • NYC-DEP or other NYC City agency field construction experience
