Ground Support Equipment Design & Test Engineer


The GSE Design and Test Engineer will perform design, upgrade, and maintenance activities associated with the processing and testing of Extravehicular Activity (EVA) hardware. They will collaborate with members EVA Hardware & Design Engineering team, technicians, and customers to ensure smooth incorporation/deployment of new or modified test equipment. GSE Design and Test Engineering responsibilities include:

•Design/develop the test equipment and special tooling required for maintenance, assembly, troubleshooting, testing, and sizing of the spacesuit and spacesuit components

• Applies knowledge of mechanical design, assembly, testing, and materials; conferring with NASA requirements and equipment OEMs

•Develops maintenance, assembly, troubleshooting, and testing processes and procedures by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing

•Improves process efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow and equipment requirements.

•Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming processes.

•Provides component selection decision-making information; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.

•Keeps equipment operational by troubleshooting discrepancies and coordinating maintenance and repair

•Performs project management


• 3+ years mechanical design experience

• Familiarity with testing methodologies and test planning activities

• Familiarity with project management

• Familiarity with scheduling program(s) such as MS Project

• Excellent oral and written communication skills


• BS Degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
