Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

KBR have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Services team in Adelaide . This is a key role in the business and a great opportunity for someone looking to join a global company and take the next big step in their career.

The “Senior Mechanical Engineer” will be heavily involved in a range of commercial, industrial, office and residential buildings projects. The role will focus on the design of mechanical systems for buildings relating to gases, fluids, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning.

KBR has recently been appointed as the lead design consultant for the SEA1000 Future Submarine Shipbuilding project in Adelaide. This global-scale, multi-billion dollar development 30 minutes from Adelaide’s CBD involves over 8 years of continuous work and is an example of one of the major projects that this key role will support.


  • Design a range of mechanical systems for buildings
  • Responsible for the design and specification of mechanical equipment such as rotating machinery, pressure vessels and heat transfer equipment
  • Lead small projects and be responsible for planning and budgets
  • Provide technical guidance to designers
  • Coach junior engineers and help develop their skills
  • Build and strengthen relationships with clients

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 years related experience
  • Certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer is preferred
