AECOM is seeking a qualified Painter Aircraft at the Corpus Christi Army Depot.
Major Duties: Responsible for painting the interior and exterior surfaces of a wide variety of aircraft components. Examines parts to be painted and instructs lower-graded contract personnel in the process of cleaning and masking of parts prior to painting. Determines color, mixes and blends, pigments, curing agents, graphite, etc., and mixes paint according to specifications adding proper amounts of thinner to different types of paints to adjust to spraying consistency. Operates air-driven suction, electrostatic and pressure-type spray gun, selecting proper gun nozzle to spray a variety of primers, enamels, lacquers, acrylics, silicone, epoxy, eynthetisine, polyurethane, nubelon, phenolic resin, varnish, dry-lubricant, and other related anti-corrosive substances in the required color or different color combinations. Makes correct nozzle adjustments, regulates air and material pressure to spray different types of paints, adjusting paints to prescribed viscosity and determines amount of paint application necessary to obtain and maintain a uniform thickness build-up. Prepares and cuts stencils for application to engine parts, transmissions, rotor-heads, and other components. Applies paint to tolerances ranging from .0002 to .0015 inch thickness on parts primarily of magnesium, steel, and aluminum. Designs or constructs jig, racks, masks, and other fixtures to perform painting tasks assigned. (Parts painted consist of parts with multiple grooves, curves, chamfers, orifices, contours, as well as convex and concave surfaces.)
Bakes parts in a thermostatic oven for prescribed time and given temperatures to obtain essential drying. Checks application of dried and finished painting substances for specified tolerances, bubbles, pin holes, runs, sags, or other surface irregularities. Determines thickness and proper application of paint by measuring with micrometer or other device.
Mixes and applies sealing compound to transmissions, gear boxes and other components, sealing is applied for the protection of the internal mechanism and must be smooth, free of lumps, sags, runs, pin holes, etc., which may cause water seepage and internal damage. Application is performed by using sealing gun and/or brush.
Incumbent will be required to have general knowledge of handling hazardous waste/materials and proper disposal requirements of waste as directed by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Incumbent must also have knowledge of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) when performing tasks of the trade.
Supervisor makes overall assignments on a continuing basis either orally or in the form of work orders and established priorities. Work is performed in accordance with military specifications, technical manuals, blueprints, sketches, shop travelers, production control work orders, and other pertinent written work requirements. Completed work is inspected for compliance with prescribed methods and procedures and conformance with established quality standards. Completed work is also inspected periodically by Quality Control through laboratory tests. Exposed to paint fumes, compound thinner, and naphtha. Works in surroundings requiring the use of protective clothing and gear, e.g., air filter masks, safety shoes, safety glasses, hooded suit, gloves, aprons, etc., as working conditions may warrant. Exposed to heat of oven and the danger of possible burns while handling parts. Subject to considerable noise in shop.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Must be a US Citizen
High School diploma or equivalent.
Five (5) years actual and recent aircraft, or related weapons systems experience desired; three (3) required.
Thorough knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft maintenance mandatory.
Knowledge of the scope and limitation of various categories of maintenance and their application to the contract unit required.
Position will require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance
