Job Summary

AECOM is seeking Safety Watch to join our Husky Sunrise project team on site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a temporary position on a 7/7 shift rotation.

Safety Watch is a knowledgeable aspect of company's equipment, technology and procedures and proactively manage the hazards that they face in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Ask required questions and take the required direction ensure that work is accomplished safely.

  • Understand and follow company’s safety management system and core values.

  • Maintain all company tools and equipment to the required standards.

  • Drive safely and professionally, obeying all traffic rules at all times.

  • Participate fully in such things as job observations, near miss and HID reporting, site inspections, weekly and monthly safety meetings, and tailgate meetings

  • Identify and mitigate safety hazards.

  • Ensure that all training is kept current.

  • Understand and utilize the right and responsibility to stop unsafe work.

  • Seek out continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Provide customer focused services in all activities.

  • Fulfill all commitments made to others.

  • Foster a cooperative and positive work atmosphere.

  • Be aware of and work towards personal progression and growth opportunities.

  • Training and mentoring new employees.

Conditions of Employment for this position are:

  1. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Background Check policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, the role must complete a satisfactory pre-employment Background Check. This may consist of all or a combination of the following: Canadian Criminal Record check, an Employment Verification and/or an Education and Accreditation Verification.

  2. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Alcohol & Drug (A&D) policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Education.

  • First Aid – Standard Level C

  • H2S Alive

  • CSTS-09 (Construction Safety Training Systems) or PST (Petroleum Safety Training)

  • OSSA Fall protection

  • OSSA CSE entry

  • WHMIS GHS2015

  • Gas monitor training

  • Fire extinguisher training

  • Fire/ Spark Watch training

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in a Safety Watch position is considered an asset

  • High angle rope rescue and safety experience is considered an asset
