Estimating Intern – Federal Construction ServicesThe AECOM Federal Construction Services groups is looking for a motivated Estimating Intern for Summer 2020 at our Arlington, VA office. This candidate will work on a variety of federal projects ranging in size and complexity.Imagine working on rewarding projects within a diverse culture, and having access to exceptional training and career development opportunities. Our people bring deep industry knowledge to help you succeed.Operating under moderate supervision, the Intern delivers project activities requiring varied interpersonal and construction skills. While supporting the estimating department, the Intern’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Perform quantity takeoff from construction documents.
Create detailed cost breakdowns and assist the estimating team.
Assist with the preparation of bid packages.
Communicate and align the scope of work from subcontractors with AECOM’s internal estimate.
Assist with the development of Value Analysis items against the current estimate.
Perform comparisons of previous budgets with the current estimate.
AA/AS (US) + 2 years of relevant experience or Diploma/Certificate (Canada) + 2 years of relevant experience or HS/GED + 4 years of relevant experience.
Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in construction management, building technology, civil engineering or similar major
Have a good general understanding of estimating preferred.
Ability to follow direction and manage specific tasks to completion
Ability to learn new technologies and concepts
Demonstrated leadership abilities
Willing to work a variety of tasks alone or as part of a team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Eagerness to learn and positive attitude
