We are seeking Chief Technology Officer who can successfully drive new market and technology areas for future business growth of BBN in partnership with the Business Units. This role is critical to technical growth and innovation across the industry. The CTO is responsible for overall talent management and career growth of the technical talent across the organization and leads the Science Development Program and Principal Investigator Development Program. The CTO is also accountable for identifying and tracking all IRAD spend across BBN to ensure the highest impact. This role is critical to driving the technical direction, integration and eventual transition of programs within the enterprise.
Oversee the technical quality of the organizations work including proposals, publications and any other external technical documentation
Drive the BBN strategy for new technical areas, markets and innovations
Identify opportunities and invest IRAD budget for highest impact
Advocate for technical staff across the enterprise
Oversee the Science Development Program including all committees
Oversee Patents and Intellectual Property committee
Co-Chair the Technology transition board
Chair BBN Chief Scientist Council
Increase outreach to customers and universities
Familiar with customer networks and recognized by peers and customers as a world-class expert in one or more technical fields.
Work at the forefront of new technologies. Apply expert knowledge in one or more technical fields to solve complex technical problems using innovative methods and theories.
Collaborate with other Business Units on joint projects requiring interdisciplinary skills.
Maintain high level of customer visibility and interaction. Deliver technical presentations and papers, and holds key positions in national professional, defense, or industry organizations.
Often directs the efforts of a team of engineers to achieve stated objectives. Mentor less experienced staff within organization.
Serve as a technical advisor to Senior Management. Act as internal consultant to other company organizations in area(s) of technical expertise.
Serve as a member of the CTO council.
Minimum Education Masters degree within a technical discipline required and a PhD within a technical discipline preferred
20 or more years experience as a recognized technical authority in one or more technical fields.
Proven track record of successfully developing business within the DoD.
Experience with government procurement and proposal processes.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Ability to work with a diverse group of technologists and technologies.
Existing Top Secret clearance required
