AECOM is seeking a proactive and enthusiastic CAD & Graphics Technician to join our growing Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Arboricultural team in our Plymouth office. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on projects of all scales within a friendly and supportive team. The work is highly varied, and you will be required to support our consultants on a range of types and sizes of projects.
No prior experience is required but we are looking for a team player who has a keen interest in developing themselves within our industry and has a passion and flair for computer aided design, graphic design and developing innovative solutions to improve efficiency. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to progress their career in a dynamic team.
We operate from modern, well-connected office (7-minute drive from Plymouth station), but also support home working with all employees being provided with a modern laptop and iPhone. When a CAD and graphics technician starts with us, we pair them with an experienced member of the team who will guide and mentor them through their initial period working on live projects. Their initial role will support and assist with the completion of tasks such as:
Development of graphics and photomontages for Input into Environmental Statements, Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments and associated planning documents;
Site survey, to take site photographs and or provide UAV support.
Use of AutoCAD, Photoshop, Indesign, Sketchup, Revit and our in-house developed tree importer tool to prepare base plans etc.;
Preparation of presentation drawings;
Preparation of information for planning applications, detailed design and subsequent construction information.
Use of GIS based mapping systems.
Development of tender documents, and work with other teams within the office.

We will provide you with all the tools and support you need to achieve your professional development ambitions, including chartership with the relevant international professional institution – where we have apprentices working towards over 30 professional institutions in the UK and Ireland. We demand the highest standards and expect our apprentices to pass their professional review first time. You will be assigned a mentor to support and guide your development and undertake regular training modules throughout the programme. There will be on-the-job and classroom training where required, and the opportunity to work on live client projects with significant multi-disciplinary exposure

No experience is necessary, but what is important for our apprentices here at AECOM is the following;
Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade ‘C/4’ or above, including Maths & English
An aptitude towards good logic, problem solving and strong organisational skills
An interest in and a desire to pursue a career in CAD and Graphics
A keen eye for design.
Good technical and communication skills
Good Photoshop, AutoCAD, word and excel skills and familiar with file naming and filing conventions either via previous work experience or personal development.
You should have an Interest in environmental design from concept to detailed stages.
Ability to deliver CAD and graphics requirements to the team, and successfully manage time to meet project deadlines
A hard working and highly motivated individual with excellent communication and good grasp of maths and the English language.
Client focused with good interpersonal skills and team approach willing to contribute to project success.
You will be able to demonstrate experience or understanding of Health and Safety compliance.
A flexible approach to supporting the existing teams, which is likely to involve travel to sites and potentially full multiple days in the field.
Able to demonstrate a commitment to continued education and improvement through participating in our approved training schemes
Ideally a full driving licence.
Understanding and experience of BIM is desirable.
