Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Electrical Engineer for employment in the Chelmsford, MA office. Support the Chelmsford Design Center – Electrical Dept. with the layout and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations, including; Pumps, piping, valves, etc., Headworks, screening, grit removal systems, Aeration, filtration, separation, dewatering and clarification systems, Odor control systems, Chemical feed systems, Disinfection, Sludge and residual handling systems.

This Career Opportunity will be located within AECOM’s A/E Design Center in Chelmsford, MA. This nationally recognized as center of excellence that focuses on the design of large, complex, multi-discipline, high-profile water and wastewater treatment and pumping facilities for both traditional and design-build projects. The Design Center is comprised of approximately 70 staff and includes a full complement of disciplines including: Geotechnical, Civil, Architectural, Structural, Building Mechanical (i.e., HVAC, Plumbing & Fire Protection), Process Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) as well as CAD/Revit Specialists.

This position will involve a variety of new and renovations to existing governmental, commercial, institutional and industrial facilities.

  • Work under the supervision of a senior-level team member from the Chelmsford Design Center.

  • Design low voltage and medium voltage electrical distribution systems and building services.

  • Perform electrical system designs including

  • Switchgears,

  • Switchboards,

  • Motor control centers,

  • Variable frequency drives,

  • Generators, transformers,

  • Distribution panels, and

  • Other electrical distribution systems components.

  • Perform design for lighting, fire alarm, telephone, security and grounding systems.

  • Prepare design drawings including single line diagrams, electrical plans, wiring schematics, schedules, etc.

  • Perform electrical system calculations using power analytical software packages (Ex. SKM, EDSA, and Easy Power).

  • Perform electrical system studies and calculations (load, harmonics, voltage drop, lighting, short circuit, coordination and arc flash).

  • Review and coordinate instrumentation, control system process P&IDs, mechanical and HVAC systems and design its related electrical systems

  • Develop electrical equipment specifications.

  • Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices.

  • Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer

  • Licensed Professional Engineer.

  • LEED Accredited Professional.

  • Design experience with industrial instrumentation and controls (I&C) systems.

  • Experience with Revit preferred.

  • Experience in the water/wastewater industry.
