AECOM has an Environmental Scientist position available in Midland, Michigan. This position focuses on environmental regulatory support, environmental sampling, waste characterization, and data analysis specific to air, water and waste. This selected candidate will have a keen interest in environmental, health and safety as it relates to a wide range of environmental projects. Projects will include source testing, environmental compliance sampling, preparation of technical reports, and industrial plant support.
A combination of the following responsibilities under the direction of a professional or experienced Environmental Scientist or Project Manager includes but is not limited to
Completion of field inspections and observations;
Field work to include the ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work outside sometimes in inclement weather, prolonged standing, walking in various types or terrain
Perform compliance tasks related to several different regulatory requirements in the areas of air, water, and waste;
Perform environmental sampling of wastewater, cooling tower water and air;
Perform testing from emissions sources (stack testing)
Work with multiple client businesses to support their EH&S objectives;
Support the environmental sampling team by coordinating sampling events, scheduling work, and ensuring they have required materials to complete job;
Coordination with outside analytical laboratories to ensure the data and quality objectives are achieved;
Preparation of technical reports and routine monitoring reports;
Review and validate analytical reports for accuracy and correctness; and
Support Project Managers on various environmental projects.
Associate’s Degree in Science or related field (Biology, Chemistry, Engineering Technology, Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management)
Experience collecting environmental samples and working in an industrial setting; and
Experience working on teams;
One overnight per month of travel should be expected
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test, and will be subject to random testing.
Associates ’s Degree in Environmental Science, Biology or related Science or Engineering field with 2 years of experience is a plus
Experience with applicable EH&S rule and regulations preferred (MACT, CAA, CWA, and RCRA waste and Corrective Action regulations)
Experience using spreadsheets, word processing and standard MS Office software
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as ArcGIS)
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and must have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions;
Must be able to work at heights;
Must be able to plan ahead for projects, identify materials and equipment needed, develop and meet schedule
Must be able to derive decisions and recommendations based on collected data;
Experience working at chemical industrial plant;
