Job Summary

Position Overview

The incumbent will lead a small team of ecology / water planning professionals to manage environmental planning projects in Hong Kong and the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Makes recommendations on work methods and procedures and technical innovations by devising practical and economical solutions

  • Makes recommendations on research requests, objectives, priorities, and timing

  • Assess need for change and recommends development of standards

  • Assess work against standards, objectives and specifications

  • Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies when working on unusually complex technical problems

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance

  • Develops solutions which are highly innovative

  • Acts as advisor to management and clients

  • Oversees the work of less experienced scientists

  • Contribute to Business development for current and prospective clients

  • Regular travel to Chinese Mainland (mainly in Greater Bay Area) and South-east Asia

  • Enforce ethics and compliance policy including Third Party payment, Sub-consultancy engagement process and Gift and Entertainment policy

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree or above in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or Environmental Engineering

  • Possession of recognized professional qualification / affiliation(s) (e.g. HKIE, HKIQEP)

  • 5-8 years of experience in specialties of Ecology, Environmental Planning and/or Blue-Green Infrastructure design ideally in both Hong Kong and overseas

  • Capable of performing high quality works on schedule and within budget

  • Sound computer skills and abilities in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD as well as specialized software related to area of expertise (e.g., ArcGIS, Marxan, HECRAS)

  • Effective communicator with excellent presentation and technical writing skills

  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese

  • Able to work independently and within a team environment
