SAIC is seeking a Launch Systems Integration (LSI) Engineer with technical expertise in launch services acquisition and launch vehicle integration. The position will support a Program Office overseeing cutting edge work for our Chantilly, VA Customer.


In this role, you must be able to articulate design impacts of a mature spacecraft design on a new launch vehicle development activity.


Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the customer at weekly and monthly launch service acquisition and launch integration meetings with spacecraft contractor
  • Evaluate proposals for launch integration activities of spacecraft contractors for appropriate technical effort
  • Evaluate proposed activities of launch service providers and advise the government program office on the recommended changes
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on launch planning documents produced by the space vehicle contractor and the launch service providers
  • Provide support as needed to current launch preparation and launch campaign activities at the launch site
  • Review and advise on interface requirement documents related to launch
  • Provide technical assessments as required on launch interface requirement verifications
  • Attend meetings with spacecraft and launch vehicle developers on technical interface design and development


  • Active TS/SCI with Poly
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering discipline
  • 14 years’ experience with launch vehicle integration, experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • Basic understanding of satellite systems and architectures
  • Familiarity with launch vehicle design impacts on space vehicle programs that are not yet past Preliminary Design Review (PDR)
  • Familiarity with the acquisition of launch services for multiple spacecraft bus designs to include payload deliveries to various orbital insertions

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in defense and intelligence community acquisition and program management processes
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment
  • Available to travel domestically 3-5 days per month
