Linux Administrator (SR1346) - Military veterans preferred

SAIC has an opening on a team that provides support across numerous Linux systems. We are seeking an experienced Linux Administrator for this team. The individual selected for this role should be experienced in Linux administration with a minimum of 3 years of experience. The candidate should also have working knowledge/experience of bash shell scripting and other languages (python, perl).  









  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field and 5 or more years of professional experience or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree; OR Master's degree and 3 years or more of experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with RedHat or Ubuntu and working knowledge/experience of Bash shell scripting and other languages (Python, PERL).

  • Three years of experience performing installations/patching of operating system, software
    installation, and system backups - data recovery.

  • Experience monitoring systems, hardware troubleshooting, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance with security updates (STIGS/Security)

  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues independently

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance

  • Work well with others

  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to learn new technologies on own

  • Virtualization and managing virtual machines, i.e., VMware.

  • Cloud (OpenStack, Azure, AWS, Google)
  • Possess great people skills, strong customer service skills

  • Systems administration vendor certification
  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • RHCE certification
  • Storage experience with NFS, Block, Object (S3), SMB

  • Configuration Management – puppet, ansible, chef
  • Source Code Management tools – GIT, SVN 
  • Experience with technologies like Hadoop, Containers, Docker
