SAIC is seeking a senior systems engineer with experience in managing a Cisco VoIP telephony system to include configuration, installation and on-going support. The ideal candidate for this position must possess extensive hands on technical skills designing and deploying Cisco VoIP solutions. Additionally, this candidate should have strong project management and leadership skills to ensure all installation, implementation, and configuration details are identified, captured, and planned for to guarantee a seamless and successful implementation.
The scope of this position includes network design,
equipment selection, implementation, and support for all components of the
voice systems including the full suite of Cisco Unified Communications
Ideally, the candidate should also have in-depth knowledge of Cisco switches and routers, including hardware and IOS software, configuration and troubleshooting.
Design and support VoIP infrastructure and its associated software, including Call Manager, Cisco Unity Connection, IM&P, voice gateways, contact center and interactive voice response.
Monitor, identify, and correct capacity and performance issues for VoIP traffic to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of telephony systems
Analyze and resolve telecommunications circuit issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and support user needs where required.
Experience with Cisco Unified Call Manager Clusters (version 8.x, 9.x, 10.x later versions a plus) and Cisco Unity Connection Voice Mail.
SIP, H323 and MGCP voice signaling protocol configuration experience is a must.
Support Cisco Contact Center infrastructure and its associated software, including UCCE and UCCX
Knowledge of Informacast paging system preferred.
Knowledge of Cisco Presence and Jabber application is preferred.
Collaborate with other systems engineers/vendors for upgrades to operating systems, hardware, etc.
Utilize and follow the change management process for network changes. Coordinate configuration of firewalls and other network security infrastructure for VoIP deployment.
Review and recommend VoIP infrastructure to ensure data security configuration and management. Effectively communicate both technical details and summarized impact analysis to Management.
Maintain an accurate inventory of all equipment, circuits and IP addresses.
Maintain accurate network diagrams and associated documentation.
Keep abreast of new technologies and recommend adoption as appropriate.
Identify areas for automation or other process improvement.
Provide documentation, train and mentor other team members.
Collaborate with help desk to resolve trouble tickets and resolve end-user issues
Perform telephony audits as necessary.
Working technical knowledge of VoIP/IP telephony systems, software, hardware, and Telecommunications standards (Q.931, VoIP, SIP, RTP/RTCP, H323)
Working technical knowledge of TCP/IP networks and standards (IEEE 802.1)
Strong hands-on knowledge of the configuration and optimization of Cisco CUCM VoIP and video equipment.
Cisco networking products (CUBE routers): VoIP (CUCM, Unity, Presence, UCCX, CAD, Finesse);
Microsoft Active Directory, including DNS and DHCP functions.
Familiar with network topologies such as MPLS, Frame Relay, ATM, ISDN, etc.
Strong understanding VoIP QoS issues and mitigation strategies.
Knowledge of cabling and wiring systems, design, and installation.
Ability to operate tools, components, peripherals, and testing accessories.
Professional Certifications and Education:
CCNP – Voice / Network
Any QOS or Security certifications are a plus!
Bachelor’s degree in a technical/business discipline or equivalent work experience.
10+ years installing and maintaining Cisco Voice/VoIP networks
7+ years’ experience in a senior position
Participation in 24/7 on-call rotation is required for this role.
