  • Provide expert experience to senior Command officials on matters relating to unmanned aircraft system (UAS) flight clearance (FC) efforts.

  • Assisting in the airworthiness and safety of flight assessments as related to the development of Interim Flight Clearances (IFC) and Permanent Flight Clearances (PFC) products. 

  • Coordinate with NAVAIR program offices – such as CNAF, TYCOMs, Test Squadrons, HQMC, MCWL, NRL, ONR, and OEMs, to establish airworthiness strategies providing engineering reports, other technical information, and meeting reports.

  • Represent NAVAIR as a UAS airworthiness expert at airworthiness meetings, reviews, and conferences. 

  • Provide inputs on airworthiness policy and actions as draft documents for policies and records.

  • Liaison with PEO/PMA personnel, as well as joint service and FMS/NATO partners.


  • Master’s degree and twelve (12) years DoD airworthiness experience in unmanned aircraft systems.

  • Fifteen (15) years DoD airworthiness experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master’s degree.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive level personnel throughout DOD airworthiness and NATO Partners.

  • Ability to develop and follow implementation plans for configuration management of technical data.

  • Ability to demonstrate expertise in decision-making with self-starter qualities while performing in a team environment.

  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft (MS) products and possess a strong computer-use background to include editorial software running on local, networked, or web-based platforms, and websites.

  • Possess the ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing.

  • Active or current for Secret Security Clearance
