SAIC is seeking an IT System Engineer/Project Manager to perform Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) functions for our Government Customers.  The successful candidate will perform an array of systems engineering, project management, and technical planning activities  to support enabling communications to the launch community. 

   The position is located in Vandenberg with the work to be performed at the Customers' facilities.



Responsibilities include:


  - Providing end to end Systems Engineering support and the "last mile" COMM engineering support and/or oversight


  - Providing planning support for logistics activities

   - Provide technical guidance to data center design and management


  - Developing technical documentation to support Customer projects in the areas of computing, hosting, and network connectivity


  - Recommend metrics to perform the organization’s programmatic performance; gather and assess metrics against baselines, and assess trends


 - Provide project management expertise, including schedule management, for the Customer’s projects


  - Perform requirements analysis and provide inputs regarding impacts of planned requirements changes


 - Track metrics/discrepancy reports of launch/COMMS systems


  - Perform risk identification and assessment; develop and track risk mitigation plans


  - Provide advisory support in technical/engineering areas to ensure success of the Customer Organization


  - Provide end-to-end systems engineering support and troubleshooting to assist the Customer with connectivity issues related to network connectivity


  - Provide technical evaluation of vendor documentation, and technical evaluation of other documentation as required by the Customer


  - Serve as lead for SETA activities for the Customer

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience


   -  Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, networking, or years of experience in lieu of a degree in related technical fields

   - 5 or more years’ experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community Customers in similar activities within Information Technology (IT) field

   - Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment as a Team Lead, or other relevant leadership experience

   - Demonstrated ability to perform project management, schedule management, and risk management

   - Demonstrated ability to identify performance improvement opportunities, and to recommend appropriate changes to improve organizational performance

Desired Qualifications


  - Possess a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  - Familiarity with IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL)

  - Strong verbal and written communications skills (may be required to provide a sample of documentation)

  - Familiarity with the Systems Engineering lifecycle, including risk management and risk mitigation as applied to Information Technology (IT) and networking

  - Knowledgeable of MS Office software products including Visio
