Job Summary

TAMS (an AECOM company) is looking for a General Foreman (Multi-Trade Supervisor) to join our Shell Sarnia project team in Sarnia Ontario. This is a Full Time position; 5 days on 2 days off rotation.

Reporting to the Site Manager, the General Foreman is responsible for the preparation and execution of maintenance work in accordance with Business Unit requirements and standards including liaising with client personnel and the appropriate Planner's. The role supports the Site Manager in delivering the maintenance services & break in work support to the respective Business Units.

  • Ensures that all maintenance activities are carried out in a safe, effective manner through adherence to all Workplace Health & Safety regulations all Client and AECOM procedures, policies, standards and controls.

  • Contributes to improving safety and productivity by recommending and implementing changes to procedures, standards, rules and work practices.

  • Proactively identifies and corrects unsafe working conditions.

  • Primary maintenance responsibilities include HSSE and Quality program compliance, attainment of maintenance milestones, resource management, interface with Supply Chain Management and workforce administration

  • Monitors maintenance progress, quality control, and scheduling.

  • Ensures all necessary material and equipment has been procured and is available for use.

  • Ensure that all maintenance activities proceed without significant disruption to maintenance or plant operations

  • Supports a productive human resource environment through leadership and by ensuring proper administration of all AECOM HR procedures and fostering open, two-way communications

  • Ensure all progressive discipline processes are maintain and executed according to AECOM policy

  • Ensures all maintenance conforms to the approved plans and specifications and that all work is conducted in accordance with permit procedure requirements

  • Ensures all necessary QC inspections of field installations are performed to ensure maintenance compliance to all applicable codes and standards including any Client and AECOM specific practices or identified requirements

  • Manages the on site safety, schedule, subcontractors and employees.

  • Assists in the coordination and planning of projects in a particular construction area.

  • Coach and mentor the Construction Operations staff on the project to safe work practices, quality workmanship, productivity and schedule.

  • Align Construction crews with adequate supervision and provide daily work instructions within area of supervision.

  • Monitors performance, progress and productivity of the project, and ensures the alignment of the construction to the project plans and drawings.

  • Ensure that all tools and equipment utilized have been inspected, in good repair, and color coded, as required.

  • Regularly communicate work progress, schedule variance, crew and safety performance to the Site Manager

  • Give daily guidance to the Foremen on the Workface.

  • Approve and submit any invoice/timesheets which have business unit expenditures to the appropriate project.

  • Ensure daily progress reports have been submitted by Foremen on shift.

  • Support site manager with planning, estimating and / or execution work.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma required.

  • Minimum of 8 years trade experience required, including 4+ years of experience in a similar maintenance position or trades experience.

  • Previous supervisory experience is required.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of contractor and procurement principles, practice and legislation.

  • Strong negotiation skills, communication skills, analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Team Player to deliver desire outcomes.

  • Valid Driver's License and driver's abstract required.

  • Beginner computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. SAP experience would be an asset.

  • Valid Safety tickets and site tickets will be determined upon hire.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyman ticket / Red seal / Blue seal certification would be an asset, preferably Millwright and/or Pipefitter Journeyman ticket.

  • Formal supervisory or management training/certification is an asset.
