AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Resident Engineer (RE) for immediate employment in the Newark, NJ field office for the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (PVSC) construction program. The $500-million, 4-year resiliency program includes several construction contracts, and intends to improve flood resiliency of the existing 330 MGD wastewater treatment plant.
The Resident Engineer (RE) will be responsible for the effective administration of the construction contract that will include construction of floodwall, stormwater pump stations, and stormwater collection system. Work activities will include excavation, soil disposal, dewatering, relocation of buried utilities, installation of pile foundations, concrete work, and installation of mechanical, electrical, and control systems. The RE will have the primary responsibility for quality assurance of the construction. Additional responsibilities include:
Overseas and coordinates Contractor’s construction activities. Communicates daily with the Contractor’s Project Manager. Overseas AECOM Construction Inspectors in execution of their duties.
Facilitates communication between the PVSC (Owner), the Contractor, Design Engineers of Record, and other agencies.
Tracks progress of work and Contractor’s adherence to schedule, and process Contractor’s payment requests.
Ensures work is performed in compliance with the contract documents. Ensures delivered materials comply with approved submittals.
Maintains necessary project documentation, including daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Prepares agenda for and conducts progress meetings. Prepares other project correspondence and documentation.
Coordinates distribution and review of submittals, RFIs, and other correspondence. Oversees the web-based construction management system. Assures proper resolution and closeout.
Coordinates change management (field orders, change orders).
Ensures implementation of health and safety procedures and practices.
Performs other assignments as determined by AECOM Construction Manager.
Supports overall management administration to project and assists in establishing project specific objectives and policies.
May provide technical direction and guidance to subordinate managers, enforces company and project policies, maintains close client interface, and ensures all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule through subordinate managers and supervisors.
Position may have significant profit/loss responsibility for assigned construction project.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
2+ years of experience
Current NJ Professional Engineer (PE) License.
6+ years of experience in construction management roles for heavy civil construction projects.
Experience in construction of pumping stations.
