AECOM Netherlands has secured the Project Management Services on a high-rise project comprising two 30+ storey towers which will be the tallest in the city of Amsterdam. For this exciting project we are hiring a MEP Project Manager /Package Manager!

One tower will be residential and the other will be a 4 star hotel together with a plinth area that will comprise of a significant conference centre and car parking.

The AECOM team in the Netherlands consists of approximately 110 employees and operates from our headquarters in The Hague and from multiple site hubs throughout the country. Representative services include Engineering & Construction Services, Environment, Health & Safety.

Job Summary

As a MEP Package Manager you are the Projects Teams’ eyes and ears on site.

You coordinate and supervise the quality of the General Contractor’s Building Services site works and support the Project Manager, working with both the Commercial and Project Control Managers.

The local design consultant will remain on the client team and be ultimately responsible for the MEP quality and design compliance. Your role is to ensure this is being carried out accordingly and facilitate the interface with the contractor and the relevant consultant team.

As a MEP Package Manager you help supervise and monitor the MEP Design & Build activities of the general contractor.

In addition you will manage design changes and development from both the client and contractor's Design and Build team and provide general project advice to the client.

Daily tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Overall responsibility for contractor and clients consultants delivering and checking the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC installations

  • Participation in Building Services meetings with Client, Designer, General Contractor, etc.

  • Initial Design Management coordination

  • Ensuring Utility Services coordination is being carried out by the contractor and advising the client where appropriate

  • M&E site works coordinator and supervisor

  • M&E works quality control, inspections, corrective actions

  • Client’s M&E changes coordination

  • Assistance to the Project Manager with the regular progress reports

  • On/off Site inspections, witnessing the tests

  • Regular Quality reports

  • Take overs & hand overs

  • Supervising the Commissioning and Testing, Snagging lists – corrective actions (carried out by the General Contractor)

  • Ensuring safety of the site with support of the Safety Manager

The MEP Package Manager's prime role is to support the project with the description above.

As the Project Management Business grows in the Netherlands there is a long term opportunity to help develop multidisciplinary projects supported by established AECOM design teams in the EMEA region.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in or related to, Building Services Engineering or HVAC, ideally registered engineer/Chartered or at least with qualifications leading to this.

  • Minimal 10 years of working experience within the building services industry

  • Excellent technical understanding of building services for different sectors along with a good overview of the other specialist disciplines associated with building services.

  • Relevant experience in engineering design, including areas such as specification writing, calculations, and developing designs from first principles

  • Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients.

  • Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.

  • Significant track record of leading design teams.

  • Experience in project management within a defined fee budget and program.

  • Fluent in English and Dutch. Command of the Italian language would be an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience of the local market and developing new environments.

  • Experience to take the lead on projects and be the main contact for the client / project team to assist in work winning, client relations, technical control and enhancing AECOM’s reputation in the sector.

  • Experience with elevator installations

  • Aspiration and capability to service our clients and grow the overall business in the Netherlands.

  • Excellent track record of delivering high rise / hotel building projects.

The individual will need to be a strong communicator and be technically competent to show clients and partners technical prowess, different procurement routes and innovative solutions to challenges in order to drive projects forward and bring value.
