AECOM is searching for an Intermediate Civil Engineer to be based in our Burnaby, BC office. The successful candidate will have an understanding and significant experience in civil engineering, civil technology and construction management principles and is very familiar with the design and construction of municipal infrastructure. She/he will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. He/she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. The successful candidate will be expected to support in the delivery of infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal water, wastewater and storm water sector.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater /drainage conveyance facilities
Design of systems associated with lift stations, pump stations and other mechanical equipment associated with water and wastewater utilities.
Perform constructability reviews
Perform construction inspections
Lead construction contract administration
Prepare documentation for design projects and reports
Prepare construction cost estimates
Preparation of project specifications and contract documents
Additional responsibilities will include client communication and management; assistance with proposal preparation; contract preparation and negotiation; coordination with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
Bachelors degree + 4 years of related experience with civil engineering, design, construction inspection, contract administration
Working knowledge of water / wastewater / drainage conveyance infrastructure in a Municipal environment
Proficient with MS Office Suite
Valid BC Class V Driver's License
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients
Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Eligible for registration as P.Eng preferred
MMCD Contract Administration certification
Training and experience in project management
Experience in proposal writing and job scoping
Experience with Hydraulic Modelling
